"Unto You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; for God
is my Defense, my Fortress, and High Tower, the God Who shows me mercy and steadfast love"
(Psalm 59:17, AMP)

Commentary:
.
David is probably the
best known person in the Bible when it comes to music. He wrote his music into Psalms and this book of the Bible is
full of David's praises, or songs, to God. David met all kinds of challenges in his life. People told lies about
him, they accused him, and some even tried to kill him. In Psalm 59, David says "My enemies are coming against
me like vicious dogs trying to destroy me. But as for me, what am I going to do? I will sing about Your power.
And I will shout for joy for You are my refuge, my place of safety in my day of distress." During the worst days
of David's life, he didn't just sit around feeling sorry for himself, and complaining about what life was dealing him.
But rather, he decided to sing about God's greatness. He praised God in his time of weakness and through God, David
became victorious. He knew that no matter how powerful his enemies appeared to be, his God was more powerful and that
no obstacle was too high for God to handle. He didn't tell God how big his problems were.... He told his problems how
big his God was. It would have been easy for David to sing a song of doubt, a song of defeat, but he did not.
He sang a song to the glory of God and God saw him through his problems.
Is life tossing you lemons? Do
your problems seem too much for you to handle? Do you need a new song in your life? Instead of thinking
and complaining about what you do not have, thank God for what you do. And instead of feeling sorry for yourself
because of what you're not, thank God for who and what you are. Turn those lemons into lemonade, and just like David,
keep your eyes set toward God, keep the faith and sing a song to the Lord knowing that He is going to take care of you
and all your problems. He isn't finished with you yet, and He will complete His work in you, just as He planned
at the moment of your creation.
.
Life is a song...
and Love is the melody. Trust in God and let Him give you a new song for your life, a song immersed in His love.
Before you know it, you'll be dancing to the melody.

Meditation:
.
Father God, we thank
you for Your presence in our lives and for Your love that surrounds us each and every day. Keep us Lord from grumbling
when things don't go our way, and instead fill us with a spirit of thankfulness for the many things that do. And
may we never take for granted the many blessings that you so freely bestow upon us. You love us just the
way we are Lord, and You never expect us to be anything other than what we are... Your children. We thank
You Lord for the work You are doing within us, despite what the circumstances might look like, and
we believe You have our lives in Your hands. Thank you for leading us in the path of victory, Lord.
Give us a new song to sing, and may we forever sing it for Your glory. In Jesus Holy Name.... Amen.

Old Barns and Older People
~ Author Unknown ~
.
.
A stranger came by
the other night with an offer that set me to thinking. He wanted to buy the old barn that sits out by the highway.
I told him right off he was crazy. He was a city type, you could tell by his clothes. his car, his hands, and
the way he talked. He said he was driving by and saw that beautiful
barn sitting out in the tall grass and wanted to know if it was for sale. I told him he had a funny idea of beauty.
Sure, it was a handsome building in it's day. But then, there's been
a lot of winters pass with their snow and ice and howling wind. The summer sun's beat down on that old barn 'till
all the paint's gone and the wood has turned silver grey. Now
the old building leans a good deal and is looking kind of tired. Yet, that fellow called it beautiful. That set me to thinking. I walked out to the field and just tood there, gazing
at that old barn. The stranger said he planned to use the lumber
to line the walls of his den in a new country home he's building down the road. He said you couldn't get paint that beautiful. Only years of standing in the weather, bearing
the storms and scorching sun, only that can produce beautiful barn wood.
.
It came to me then . We're a lot like that, you and I. Only it's on the insdie that the beauty grows
with us. Sure, we turn silver gray, too, and lean a bit more than we
did when we were young and full of sap. But the Good Lord knows
what He's doing. And as the years pass He's busy using the hard weather of our lives, the dry spells and the stormy
seasons to do a job of beautifying our souls that nothing else can produce. And to think how often folks holler because
they want life easy.
.
They took
the old barn down today and hauled it away to beautify a rich man's house. And I reckon someday you and I'll be hauled
off to Heaven to take on whatever chores the Good Lord has for us in the Great Sky Ranch. And, I suspect we'll be more beautiful then for the seasons we've been through here, and just
maybe even add a bit of beauty to our Father's house.
.
May there be peace within you today. May you trust God that you are exactly where
you are meant to be. And I do sincerely thank God for each and every one of you that support me and care for me even
though I show signs of weathering.
